Privacy and face data
Draft for review. This text has not been checked by a lawyer yet and will change before PixSpace opens to the public.
Version 2026-10-27. Creating an account records that you agreed to this version.
What PixSpace does
Photographers upload photos from an event. Guests of that event can take a selfie, and PixSpace finds the photos they appear in. This page explains what we collect to do that, how long we keep it, and who can see it.
What we collect
- From photographers: account details such as name, email and phone number, and the photos they upload.
- From guests: a selfie, but only after they agree to a face search. Some events also ask for a name and phone number before searching; the photographer decides this per event.
- From event photos: face data, a numeric description of each face that lets photos be matched to a selfie. It is not a photo.
Consent comes first
Before the camera opens, every guest is asked whether they agree to a face search. If they say no, no face search happens. They can still browse the gallery when the photographer allows it. Each search records that the guest agreed, whether the face was their own or someone’s with them, which wording they saw, and when. Never the selfie. That record is kept while the event exists and deleted with it.
How long we keep it
- A guest’s selfie image is deleted as soon as the search has run.
- No face data from the selfie is stored: it is used for that one search, then discarded.
- Which photos a guest’s selfie matched is kept for two hours after their last search, so they can heart those photos when they can’t browse the whole gallery. Then it is deleted.
- Face data from event photos is kept while the event exists. Deleting a photo, an event or an account deletes its face data too.
- Backups are kept for a limited period before they are overwritten. That period will be stated here before launch.
Who can see what
Photographers see their own events, photos and guest list. Guests see only the photos matched to their selfie, plus the full gallery when they open the photographer’s whole-album link and the photographer has turned browsing on. Photos and face data are never shared between events or between photographers.
Your choices
Photographers can turn face search off for any event. Anyone can ask us to delete their data by emailing hello@pixspace.in.
